Games and a STEAM programs for developing skills in elementary school students – multiplier event organized jointly by the MDOE and ELTE-TÓK

Over the past two years of the European Erasmus KA220-SCH project titled “SPIRIT – Skills of Tomorrow for Children of the Present” (2023-1-HU01-KA220-SCH-000154457), through intensive collaboration with our five partners, we have achieved the outcomes we committed to in the project:

  1. With the involvement of cognitive child psychologists, we identified the 10 key competencies that today’s 6-year-old first-graders must have in order to live meaningful, fulfilling, and happy lives when they become adults in 15–20 years.
  2. With the involvement of 40 practicing elementary teachers from five countries and the 40 classes they teach (nearly 1,200 students), we have developed three toolkits that teachers can use as Open Educational Resources. These toolkits contain tested and proven methods for developing the given skills. These toolkits are:
    • active learning techniques for the lesson use
    • outdoor and indoor games
    • STEAM programs based on constructivist pedagogy.
  3. We have created a practice-oriented in-service teacher training course for primary school teachers, which helps integrate the project’s results into everyday teaching practice.

In the final six months of the project, we would like to share these results as widely as possible with all stakeholders and colleagues, to ensure that these tools can be effectively integrated into pedagogical practice and that today’s children have happy, meaningful lives 15 years from now – at a time when connectedness, resilience, flexibility, and connection to nature will be fundamental elements of emotional well-being.

On April 14, 2026, with the participation of ELTE-TÓK, we will present the project’s results to Hungarian teachers and initial teacher training students as part of the project’s second “Multiplier Event.”
