Example on topic: ‘Why does ice melt faster in the sun than in the shade?:

Ask questions: The children think of questions such as ‘What will happen if we cover the ice with something?

Hypothesis: ‘I think the ice melts less quickly with a cloth over it.

Research: Let the children test different materials (cloth, paper, plastic).

Reflection: Discuss: 

  • ‘Which materials worked best?
  • ‘Why do you think this happened?
  • ‘How can we improve our experiment?
